1. South Korea – EPIK / Hagwon (E-2 Visa Guide)
South Korea is universally recognized in the expat community as the undisputed king of entry-level benefits. If you want to experience ultra-modern city life, flawless public transit, and unmatched safety while wiping out your US student loans, Korea is your premier choice.- Salary & Benefits : Expect around 2.1 to 2.8 million KRW per month (approx. $1,600 – $2,200+ USD). - The Bureaucratic Hurdles : The E-2 visa requires a lot of "red tape." You cannot use standard photocopies of your diploma or background check. Everything must pass federal scrutiny.
- Workplace Culture Shock : If you work at a public school (EPIK), you have a co-teacher and a relaxed schedule. If you work at a private academy (Hagwon), the hours are usually 1 PM to 9 PM, the pace is fast, and you will be teaching younger kids with high energy.

- The catch : Unlike Korea, you usually have to pay your own rent, though schools often help find an apartment or heavily subsidize it. Private conversation schools (Eikaiwas) offer similar salaries but do not pay for your flights.
- The Bureaucratic Hurdles : The JET application process is notorious for being incredibly competitive and slow. It takes almost 8 months from application to departure.
Workplace Culture Shock: Japanese schools place a massive emphasis on harmony (wa) and protocol. You must dress professionally (business suits are standard for JETs) and be deeply respectful of hierarchy.
